SARASOTA, Fla. - According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 28 year old Jason D. Fox was chasing his dog on the interstate when he was hit and killed early Sunday morning.

According to the FHP, Fox and the driver pulled over on the median to switch drivers. When the car stopped, a dog escaped from the vehicle. Fox crossed the southbound lanes of I-75 near milemarker 193 to search for the dog. A vehicle driving southbound struck Fox and fled the scene. The vehicle is described as a Ford or Mercury utility vehicle, with damage to the driver's side.
