DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - An autopsy is being performed on a body found inside a cardboard drum barrel in the back seat of a car in Palm Beach County.
Delray Beach Police spokesman Jeff Messer says the body had been in the car parked downtown since at least noon Tuesday.
A hazardous materials team was called to investigate reports of a suspicious leaking container. Firefighters spotted a red liquid was oozing from the 35-gallon container.
Fire-Rescue Lt. Ed Beardsley said tests on the fluid showed that it came "from something deceased." After the tests, authorities opened the container and found the body.
Police said they would release more details pending an autopsy Wednesday by the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner.
