TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - New Florida jury instructions specifically limit jurors' use of cell phones, computers and other electronics.
The Florida Supreme Court unanimously approved the changes Thursday, citing concerns over how the growing use of electronic devices might affect the administration of justice.
Jury instructions traditionally have included warnings against discussing cases or obtaining outside information from outside sources including newspapers, radio and TV.
The new instructions also warn against using cell phones and computers or "tweeting, texing, blogging, e-mailing, posting information on a website or chat room."
Judges read various parts of the instructions to jurors and prospective jurors before and during trials.
