DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Deltona man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting an Orange City woman.
A Volusia County judge sentenced 39-year-old Steven Bowman to two life terms Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Authorities say Bowman had spent several nights at a bar with 51-year-old Rabbitt Burns in January. Co-workers found her body Jan. 12 after she didn't show up for her job at the DeBary Public Library. Authorities say Burns was preparing breakfast when she was shot in the head with a .38-caliber handgun.
Bowman was later found - still in possession of the murder weapon - at an Orlando motel.
