APOPKA, Fla. (AP) - A central Florida woman who lead deputies in a high-speed chase through three neighboring cities is behind bars.
Records show 22-year-old Dionne Shaunte Hughley of Apopka was being held Saturday in jail on several charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a motor vehicle, aggravated child abuse, and fleeing and eluding.
An Orange County sheriff's office report says deputies tried to stop Hughley late Friday night because she was speeding. She refused to stop, leading authorities on a chase through Apopka, Ocoee, and Winter Garden.
The chase ended when Hughley struck a wooden fence. Inside the car were two 17-year-old girls, two 12-year-old boys and one 10-year-old boy. The children were not injured. Hughley is said to be the aunt of some of the children.
