TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A Hillsborough County man facing foreclosure reportedly set his home on fire.
Firefighters responded to a house fire in Lutz Sunday night, where they found 38-year-old Gregory Kovach. The man told deputies that the house belonged to him and was in foreclosure. He told deputies that he had stopped by to pick up some personal belongings.
Deputies say that Kovach set fire to papers on the kitchen counter and clothes hanging in the closet in one of the bedrooms with a disposable cigarette lighter.
Kovach was charged with first-degree arson. He was being held without bail.
Jail records didn't say whether Kovach had an attorney.
