COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - The Education Foundation of Collier County and Naples Daily News are co-hosting a School Board Candidate Forum on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. The debate will held from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Gates Community Room at Naples Daily News on Immokalee Road.
All of the candidates for School Board Districts 1 (Pat Carroll, Rosanne Winter), 3 (Barbara Berry, Kathy Ryan), and 5 (Roy Terry, Joe Whitehead) have been invited, and all six have accepted the invitation.
Creating opportunities to learn and becoming well-informed was articulated as a strong desire of this community in the Connect Now Community Statement (www.ConnectNowCollier.org). Connect Now was an 18-month community engagement initiative of The Education Foundation through which residents representing the many diverse perspectives across Collier County had conversations about what they wanted for their community and schools. This process resulted in a Community Statement, which was published in the Naples Daily News in April 2009.
"Moving forward" is the theme of this candidate forum and will focus on a discussion of the challenges and opportunities that will present themselves in the coming months and years. Questions will be posed by a panel which includes Dudley Goodlette, Alan Horton and Phil Lewis.
