CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office solved several crimes with the arrest of Jason Kent Lamb, 37, Port Charlotte that included an occupied home burglary, aluminum wire theft and other stolen items.
On July 2, 500-feet of aluminum wire was stolen from a contractor on Harborview Rd. in Charlotte Harbor. Detectives located surveillance video from S & S Money Auto Repair that showed a silver Dodge Ram extended cab pickup with custom chrome wheels and a silver toolbox in the bed of the truck, drive through its parking lot. It also showed the driver then stealing the wire, putting it in his pickup then drive off. A license plate was observed and a BOLO was issued. Detectives were unable to locate the vehicle or driver.
On Sep. 16, a woman in the 3100 block of Collingswood Blvd., Port Charlotte, called CCSO after she woke up and saw a man in her bedroom that grabbed her jewelry boxes and fled out the front door. She got up and saw a grey extended cab pickup with silver tool box drive away.
On Sep. 30, CCSO received a call from a witness who reported a burglary in progress in the 1700 block of Osage St., Port Charlotte. The caller said a man was pulling an aluminum door off the vacant home and left in a silver Dodge Ram with custom chrome wheels. A BOLO was issued and as a road deputy responding observed the pickup at the Circle-K Convenience store, 23292 Harborview Rd. As the deputy approached the driver, he saw Lamb concealing a container in his waist band. A search of Lamb found Xanax, Opiates and marijuana. Also found was a cloth bag containing several pieces of jewelry. A search of the truck found three more watches, and bolt cutters.
Detectives said Lamb had stolen an a/c handler and the aluminum door from the Osage St. home and sold them to Allied Recycling for $37. His signature and fingerprint were on the recycling receipt. Lamb was transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he remains on $35,000 bond. Lamb is a convicted Florida felon with 13 bookings and 33 records.
Lamb is charged with three counts of Grand Theft, and one count each for Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, Possession of Xanax, Possession of Opiates, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Dealing in Stolen Property, and False Verification at a Second Hand Dealer (Recycler), and Driving While License is Suspended. The investigation continues.
