FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Another Broward County school board member is facing corruption charges, this time along with her lobbyist husband.
School board member Stephanie Kraft and husband Mitch Kraft surrendered Monday after they were indicted on state charges of bribery, official misconduct and other counts. They were expected to be released later on bail. It wasn't immediately clear if the Krafts had lawyers.
Prosecutors say the Krafts illegally helped two South Florida developers reduce an impact fee by more than $500,000 for a housing projects in Tamarac. The developers paid Mitch Kraft $10,000.
Stephanie Kraft is not seeking re-election this year.
Ex-board member Beverly Gallagher is serving federal prison time for a corruption conviction.
