VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - An Indian River County deputy was on an emergency run when he reportedly crashed into a sport utility vehicle at an intersection.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Deputy Joseph Karman was heading to a call Sunday morning when he failed to notice an SUV entering the intersection and hit the vehicle.
The SUV's driver, 71-year-old Marilyn Hastey, was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. Karman sustained minor injuries.
It's not clear if anyone will be cited for the crash.
