ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - An inmate at the Orange County Jail was found dead from an apparent suicide.
The 52-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday morning. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office reports that a preliminary investigation the inmate was alone in his cell and no foul play was suspected. They would not release specific information about the death.
A medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
The man was accused of assaulting a corrections officer at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex in August 2008, where he was serving a 13-year sentence for an armed bank robbery in Pennsylvania. His assault case was scheduled to begin this week in Orlando.
