SPRING HILL, Fla. (AP) - A Spring Hill man has been sentenced to more than two years for making a threatening phone call to U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite in March.
A judge sentenced 66-year-old Erik Lawrence Pidrman Thursday to 27 months in federal prison, more than double what prosecutors had recommended. Pidrman pleaded guilty in June to a charge of threatening to assault or murder a federal official.
Pidrman has acknowledged that the voice leaving the threatening message at Brown-Waite's office was his but claims he doesn't remember making the call. He says he must have blacked out from drinking when he left the message.
