WATERTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - A Fort Drum military policeman has pleaded guilty to stabbing two Army buddies to death at their apartment in northern New York last November.
Joshua Hunter pleaded guilty Monday in Jefferson County Court to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 23-year-old Spc. Diego Valbuena of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., and 20-year-old Spc. Waide James of Cocoa, Fla. They lived at a housing complex just outside the military base 75 miles north of Syracuse.
Authorities say he repeatedly stabbed each man. He then took one of their cars and fled to southern Ohio, where he was arrested a few days after the killings.
The Watertown Daily Times and WWNY-TV report the 20-year-old Hunter, who was raised in Ona, W.Va., is expected to be sentenced Oct. 29 to 45 years to life in state prison.
