FORT MYERS, Fla. - On September 9, 2010 the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a home on Winkler Avenue in reference to a past occurred burglary. Police met with the victim who said a man knocked on her door around 5:00 p.m. He was accompanied by two other men who remained in an SUV parked at her residence. The man advised that he was a repairman and wanted to provide her with a proposal to fix her broken gutters. The victim went with the man to the back of her home leaving her front door unlocked. While she was with the suspect her home was burglarized of several thousand dollars worth of property including jewelry, cash and other valuables.
The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, 5'8", 220 pounds, brown hair and wearing white baggy pants. He was driving a possible white or silver SUV. She described the men he was with as possibly a white male and light skinned black male. Police remind citizens to never allow an unsolicited sales person to investigate work that needs to be done in or around your home. You should also report unwanted solicitations to the police department as suspicious activity.
