PUNTA GORDA, Fla.-- There's a change of leadership in Punta Gorda as the mayor is forced to walk the plank.
But don't worry, he's ok. It was all in the name of some pirate fun.
There's a new man at the helm at Punta Gorda City Hall.
Mayor Harvey Goldberg is out and King John, the pirate, is in.
A motley group of pirates threatened to take Mayor Goldberg hostage Friday, but they managed to come to a truce just in time to kick off the 2nd Annual Fisherman's Village Pirate Festival Saturday.
Goldberg offered them a key to the city in exchange for his freedom.
The mayor will reclaim power Saturday night after the festival at Fisherman's Village which will include a parade, costume contest and a Pirate Ball with live music.
