CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Charlotte County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Justin R. Beverly, 19, 6309 Gewant Blvd., Punta Gorda, in his jail cell Thursday and charged him this time for stealing two street light poles last Tuesday. The owner of the poles, who manages property at 28605 Jones Loop Rd., didn’t call CCSO at first because he wanted to try to locate the stolen poles himself. He went to Trademark Recycling, 5005 Dalewood St., in the community of Cleveland, east of Punta Gorda, and found the poles, then called the CCSO.
Detectives went to Trademark Recycling and an employee said Beverly brought them in Tuesday and they bought the two poles valued at $2,000, for $47.50. The recycler did get photos of the pickup and trailer, a copy of his driver’s license, along with a signature and thumb print. The poles had already been scrapped and removed from Trademark.
Beverly was arrested last Wednesday along with another man, Vincent Patrick Niles, 19, 2103 Pinegrove Circle, Punta Gorda, after the two were caught by a special CCSO surveillance camera as they disassembled a large satellite dish from a Solona home at 415 Osceola Dr. Tuesday night. Both were charged with Grand Theft and Trespassing. Beverly was served notice in his jail cell of his arrest for Grand Theft and Dealing in Stolen Property in the theft of the two poles. He was also charged with Violation of Probation and being held on no bond.
