COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - A driver narrowly escapes death, not once, but twice when his car plunges into a lake.
It happened Monday evening on Collier Boulevard, right at the entrance of Fiddler's Creek.
Gerry Paolini says traffic on Collier Boulevard came to a sudden stop and he had nowhere to go. Before Paolini knew it, he was headed into a lake. Luckily, he had his window open at the time and was able to swim to shore.
What's most amazing is the driver didn't hit a four foot wide tree that was right in his path.
If you ask Paolini, he says the scariest part of the crash was swimming to shore in a lake he believes has alligators.
The car completely submerged, but was pulled out two hours after the accident.
