MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) - A Miami Gardens police officer reportedly ran his patrol car into a utility pole after a suspect attacked him.
Police say the officer had been filling out paperwork in his vehicle early Wednesday morning when he tried to question a man walking by who was behaving strangely. The man reportedly attacked the officer, who knocked the patrol car's gearshift into "drive" and hit the pole.
A clerk at a nearby gas station heard the commotion and went outside to help. He said the officer gave him his gun to keep it away from the suspect. The officer then subdued the alleged attacker.
It wasn't immediately clear why the suspect reportedly attacked the officer.
