JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Republican candidates for governor both started the day in church hoping to win some more votes in their tight primary race.

Attorney General Bill McCollum got some star power Sunday when Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate, joined him for a service at a Jacksonville Baptist church. His opponent, Rick Scott, dropped in on a large Hispanic congregation in Miami.

McCollum and Huckabee then greeted voters at Duval County Republican headquarters before the candidate headed to Fort Myers. Scott had scheduled stops in Punta Gorda and Naples.

McCollum and Scott, a wealthy political newcomer, are locked in a close race for the GOP nomination. The election is Tuesday.
