PORT ORANGE, Fla. (AP) - A would-be robber who police say had his own gun turned on him has been arrested.

Port Orange police say 25-year-old Raymond Shepard was caught Friday and charged with attempted armed robbery.

Police say Shepard and an accomplice followed a 69-year-old woman to her car last month as she left a Daytona Beach Walmart.

The accomplice reportedly blocked the woman's car with his own while Shepard jumped on her hood and began hitting her windshield with his gun. The windshield eventually broke, and Shepard's gun fell into the car. The woman picked up the gun and pointed it at Shepard, who reportedly ran off. He dropped his cell phone at the scene.

Shepard was being held at the Volusia County jail on $53,000 bail.
