BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a 39-year-old man dead.
Authorities say the man fired at officers and shot a police dog in the jaw, neck and leg. The officers shot the man, who died at the scene Wednesday night.
The dog, named Kilo, is expected to survive. The sheriff's office says he was wearing a bullet proof vest, which helped save his life.
The man's name has not been released.
