CAPE CORAL, Fla - Frances Diaz is livid and upset at the mission she has to go through to get her mail.
"I can't keep up with the bills, I can't budget myself, I can't keep track of my spending", she says.
More than a dozen units at the Bonita Apartments in Cape Coral don't have mailboxes. The Post Office stopped delivering bills, letters and other correspondence earlier this year arguing mailboxes on the property were unsafe and could easily be broke into.
For about a month the Post Office agreed to leave all mail at the manager's office, but Frances said letters never made it to her doorstep on-time because management is never in the office.
Frances tells WINK News neighbors have had their power cut off due to missed payments. Just last month, her cable was cut because she never got the bill.
The Post Office says its repeatedly tried to work with the property manager to help install new roadside mailboxes for several months now, but management fails to deliver on their promise to buy new boxes.
Residents will now have to rent a P.O. Box or have their mail forwarded elsewhere. The Post Office will no longer deliver items to the manager's office and instead will return all mail to sender until new mailboxes are installed on the property.
