BOISE, Idaho - Federal judges are having trouble where to hear over 300 oil spill lawsuits filed against BP.
About 23 lawyers argued to the seven-member US Judicial Panel on Multi-district Litigation that it would be unfair to fishermen, property owners, and others affected by the spill in the gulf to send the cases to Houston.
BP headquarters is in Houston, and the company has spoken out in favor of this location.
Plaintiffs would rather the New Orleans federal court hear the cases. Most of the suits against BP have originated from there.
A decision is expected in August.
