COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - It's your money and the Collier County Sheriff's Office will have to spend more than a grand to fix a vandalized patrol car. The unmanned car had been placed on US 41 over night to deter crime, but it did just the opposite.

"You don't think there'd be that much violence or crime out in this area, I'm really shocked," Jimmy Pauley says. He works at Paradise Pointe, a community directly across from where the car was sitting.

What deputies found was one of their patrol cars with every piece of glass smashed, even the light bar on top was broken.

Residents near where the car was sitting think vandals did this out of spite.

"It could be kids, it could be someone that got a ticket that wants revenge, but we never have any problems out here," Judy Lipesky explains.

It's uncertain if the dash cam inside the car caught a glimpse of vandals.
