LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Undercover deputies arrested 13 people Thursday in an undercover prostitution sting targeting internet solicitors.
Many of the arrests were made at locations set up by deputies but some were made at alleged brothel style operations.
At a home on the corner of Aguilinda and 36th Terrace in Cape Coral, shades are drawn on all of the windows and aluminum siding covers the lanai. Deputies arrested Melanie Williams there for soliciting prostitution after deputies set up an appointment where she alegedly negotiated a price for sex. Deputies described the home in a report, saying the garage was set up "like a sexual torture chamber."
"I knew something was going on, there are always so many cars," said neighbor Peter Smith.
The house is a block away from Ida Baker High School and students walk by every day. Ashley Jones said the house is calm during the day. "At night, usually on the weekends, I usually see wierd strobe lights coming out of the house, flashing lights, a whole bunch of cars," said Jones.
Crystal Lewis and Warren Rivera were arrested last night after deputies set up an undercover meet at their home on SE 47th Street in Cape Coral. Deputies moved in after an investigator acting as a "John" was invited to a shed in the backyard that was referred to as "the funhouse."
"I have four kids at home so, that's very disturbing," said neighbor Kelly Cook who lives a few doors down.
The arrests included 11 women and 2 men. Some of the suspects are also facing drug charges.
