FORT MYERS, Fla. - Work gets underway today on the Midpoint Bridge, and when all is said and done, the improvements are expected to result in a shorter commute for many Lee County motorists.
Workers will be removing the eastbound toll barriers; the barriers have been in place since the Department of Transportation opted to utilize one-way tolling.
The work on the Midpoint Bridge is expected to last approximately 10 months; the project will continue with a similar project on the Cape Coral Bridge, which is also expected to last about 10 months.
The price tag? The work is expected to cost $5 to $10 million.
