COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Customers are banding together on Facebook and across the internet to boycott BP. Now, local BP gas station owners say its hurting their business.

"We still aren't seeing the same number of summer volumes that we normally would," says worker Travis Stover, from the BP on U.S. 41 in Naples.

Stover and other employees are worried people don't understand that boycotting their business only hurts them and the local economy, not BP.

The Vice President of Edison Oil in Fort Myers says BP gas stations may not even be selling BP gas because oil companies trade worldwide. Plus, crude oil isn't just used for gasoline. Its made into asphalt, plastics, insecticides, even perfume.

So, Edison Oil says the boycott won't work.

Employees at the local BP hope people will listen.

"This is just privately owned and operated," says Stover "We're the same people we've always been."

The V.P. Of Edison Oil says if people want to boycott BP, they should send letters to their representatives in Washington and ask them to fine the company.
