DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida Civil Commitment Center (FCCC) clinician is facing charges of sexual misconduct after allegedly engaging in sex acts with a resident of the Arcadia facility.
The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Leanne Paynter, a resident of Mercado Drive in Sebring, Florida. Paynter has been arrested and charged with sexual misconduct.
The case unfolded on May 11, 2010, when a Florida Civil Commitment Center inspector contacted investigators after a surveillance video review revealed footage of a FCCC clinician and resident who were believed to be engaging in sexual activity.
Investigators reviewed the video footage in question from four dates. On one occasion, the male resident of the facility entered the clinical office and sat on the floor of a cubicle with Paynter. Allegedly, the two engaged in sexual activity.
Paynter has tendered her resignation.
