ESTERO, Fla. - WINK News has learned quick thinking on the ice at Germain Arena saved a man's life.
A man collapsed on the ice Wednesday while playing hockey with friends. Rink employees said the man was turning blue and wasn't breathing.
An off duty firefighter was also playing hockey and stepped in to revive the man.
"I took off his helmet, opened his airway, checked for pulses, didn't get any of that. Then just started CPR on him and then called for the AED and the guys knew where it was - thank God they had one. We shocked him one time, then continued CPR after that and the guy kind-of woke up a little bit."
When the Estero Fire Department arrived, crews said quick CPR and the defibrillator saved that mans life.
