POLK COUNTY, Fla. - Dozens of suspects have been rounded up in a large-scale child pornography bust in central Florida, and it's being reported that at least five of those suspects will be charged with sex crimes against children.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd -- a sheriff known for aggressively pursuing those who download child pornography -- says more than half of the suspects accused of having child pornography on their computers were arrested Thursday. A total of 50 arrests were made early Thursday, April 22. The effort has been dubbed Operation Child Shield II.

Additional child porn arrests occurred back in July, and some of the defendants have already been sentenced to prison. Judd said the images found on computers seized in this most recent round of arrests showed children ranging in age from 6 months to 12 years.

Four men and one woman also are accused of sexually abusing children. Eight alleged victims were identified and located. It's alleged that at least one of the suspects was involved with child pornography involving a baby.

The operation is being called the largest of its kind in Florida.

Judd's agency has arrested 141 people suspected of downloading child pornography in various sweeps during the past three years.
