FORT MYERS, Fla. - A ventriloquist and performing artist in Fort Myers says he needs help finding his three-foot-tall counterpart.
Birdie Maclaine says the dummy he's owned for 28 years was stolen out of the trunk of his car.
When Birdie isn't juggling fire in Times Square on Fort Myers Beach or working on new pieces of artwork to sell, he takes on other jobs to help pay the bills. Birdie says he was helping re-model a house in Bonita Springs. His car broke down and he had to leave it on site. The dummy, named Clarence, was in a leather case in the trunk.
"He's actually one of a kind, there's actually no reproduction of him, hand carved out of wood, his eyes will move," said Birdie.
Birdie says he plans to put up posters in Bonita Springs where the dummy was stolen. He tells us he also plans on offering a reward.
