Fort Myers, Fla.-Nearly everyone thinks his or her mother is the "World's Greatest Mom." Why else would mugs, trophies, t-shirts and other trinkets bearing the title be mass produced just before the second Sunday in May each year? This year, Southwest Floridians have a chance to prove it by entering their mothers in Mark Loren Designs' and Norman Love Confections' Storybook Mother's Day Contest - and earn winning mothers the honor plus a truly unique gift, a limited edition Mother's Day necklace designed by Mark Loren and a special chocolate gift basket compliments of Norman Love.
"Last year, our design team offered families who were dealing with the hardships of home foreclosures or unemployment the ability to present their mothers with custom-designed MOM necklaces at no cost," Loren says. "We gave away nearly 100 necklaces. My team enjoyed it so much, we knew we wanted to do something again this year. We also wanted to get Norman involved, because he was the first to respond last year when the news got out about what we were doing - he added boxes of chocolate to our gift of jewelry for local moms."
Children of all ages can nominate the special mothers in their lives to receive a Storybook Mother's Day, including a gift of fine jewelry and gourmet chocolate delivered to winning Moms personally by Mark Loren and Norman Love. Of course, the greatest present may be the story that wins them the prize. "
To nominate a Mom, entrants will need to tell us what makes their mom special, not just to them, but to the community," Love says. "To nominate a mom, entrants will need to tell us what makes their mom special, not just to them, but to the community," Love says. "
Jewelry and chocolate are two ways to show moms how much they mean to everyone they touch in their lives. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to present these gifts to a few extra special moms." Entrants are encouraged to include drawings, photos and other things that illustrate why their Moms are special. Nominated Moms need not be entrants' own mothers, just mothers that are special in their lives.
WINK News is sponsoring the contest and will collect and post all entries online. Nominations can be submitted from April 19 to midnight on May 1. Entry forms and full details can be found at www.greatmothersday.com, at Mark Loren Designs, 13351 McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers, or at Norman Love Confections Chocolate Salon, 11380 Lindbergh Blvd in Fort Myers. Four winners will be selected by a panel of local "expert Moms" - WINK news anchor Lindsay Liepman, News-Press columnist Francesca Donlan, and Loren's mother, Juanita.
The four lucky ladies selected will receive their surprises two or three days before Mother's Day delivered in person by Loren and Love in Mark Loren Designs' armored truck. "We're looking forward to seeing how creative the entries will be," Loren says. "And, of course, we're looking forward to surprising four deserving mothers with a Storybook Mother's Day."
