CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A Waste Management employee remains hospitalized Monday afternoon, critically injured in an accident that occurred around 6:30 a.m. this morning. The crash occurred on Skyline Boulevard in Cape Coral.
According to witnesses, the driver of a white truck swerved just a moment before it struck the rear of a garbage truck. One worker was hit, the other was able to jump out of harm's way. The truck driver and one of the Waste Management workers escaped serious injury, but the other worker was not as fortunate.
The victim, who was initially presumed dead, was airlifted to the hospital where he's said to be fighting for his life.
