NORTH PORT, Fla.- Multiple agencies teamed up for Operation Guardian Angel, an investigation that led to the arrest of 11 individuals, accused of seeking out sex with children.

The North Port Police Department held a news conference this morning, regarding the recent Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) operation.

Agencies, including the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office and the Punta Gorda Police Department, led the $17,000 operation, which the North Port Police Department said was well worth the cost.

Chief Kevin Vespia says that if this operation saves one child, it is well worth the cost.  He goes on to say parents should monitor what their children do online, to ensure the child's safety.

Some of those arrested included a correctional officer, a security guard, and a mother and daughter duo.

Operation Guardian Angel focused on finding people who were looking for sex with children, and yielded the arrests of suspects ranging in age from their early 20s to their 40s. Some traveled a number of miles for the opportunity to have an encounter with a child. No actual children were involved in the operation.
