PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda Police have identified the suspect accused of robbing the Bank of America, located at 100 Madrid Blvd., on July 25th.

John Haldemann is being held in the Collier County jail in reference to a traffic infraction.

Haldemann allegedly displayed a handgun to the bank teller in Punta Gorda, and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. 

After successfully evading police, Haldemann reportedly met up with a getaway driver. A nearby resident provided information on the vehicle that was seen near the bank, and a partial tag number.

Punta Gorda Police Detectives teamed up with members of the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and learned that the suspect was possibly involved in other Southwest Florida bank robberies.

Criminal charges on the getaway driver are pending. His identity is being withheld due to ongoing investigations.
