CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested 36-year-old Daniel Edward Palmer on child pornography charges after serving a federal search warrant Thursday at his home.

Beginning in March 2014, investigators began an online investigation into computers within Charlotte County that were offering images and videos of child pornography available for file sharing. One such computer was located and determined by its IP address to be assigned to a subscriber who listed an address of 22230 Olean Blvd.

After investigators were able to successfully download several images from that computer, they obtained a federal search warrant.

Forensic examiners on-scene found a computer and located “numerous child pornography video files.” Five specific files were documented initially, which resulted in Palmer being charged with five counts of possession of child pornography. The computer and other computer related items were seized for forensic analysis.

Palmer was transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he is being held on $250,000 bond. Palmer is listed as a registered sex offender with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as the result of a 2009 conviction on similar charges.
