CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Cape Coral Police arrested 63-year-old Daniel Hunt on Saturday after they say he threatened a Segway rider with a gun.

Around 7:25 p.m., the victim called police to the 5900 block of SW 1st Court, and said someone pointed a gun at him while he was riding his Segway around the neighborhood. The victim had reportedly stopped in an empty lot to admire the view overlooking the water when two nearby residents took offense to the man being in the lot near their home.

The victim then left the area and returned a few minutes later to see if there were any posted “No Trespassing” signs on the empty lot. Upon the victim's return, the resident, later identified as Hunt, came back outside, armed with a black semi-automatic .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun.

Hunt allegedly confronted the victim, who was in the street and not on anyone's property, pointed the firearm at him with his finger on the trigger, and threatened him.

The victim immediately left and called police.

Hunt told police he had a gun down by his side and was defending his property.

Hunt was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail. He faces charges of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.
