LEE COUNTY, Fla. - Lee County Deputies arrested two men for attempting to break in to a Lehigh Acres home and allegedly shooting the man inside Sunday morning.

Deputies arrested 24-year-old Thayer Evans Jr. and 21-year-old Lonnie Young Jr. Both are facing charges of aggravated battery with a weapon and firing into a home.

Deputies say Gregory Lindsay who lives at the home, heard a knock at his door a little after 6 a.m. Sunday morning. When he went to answer it, they say he heard his sliding glass door break.

That's when he went to the back of the home and saw two men standing on his porch. Deputies say they shot him twice and took off. Lindsay went back inside and called 911. He is in good condition at the hospital. Detectives also found a large brick was thrown through the glass door. They did not find any spent shell casings, leading detectives to believe a revolver was used, according to the report.

Deputies surrounded the neighborhood and brought out K-9s to try and track down the suspects. The K-9 alerted to a track down a canal and to a home on Haviland Avenue South. They say several people were gathered at the home and the homeowner allowed deputies to search, telling them there should not be any guns in the home.

Deputies found two guns in the garage they say may be connected to another robbery case. They also found a revolver.

They then arrested Evans and Young after questioning.
