LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 47-year-old woman accused of driving the wrong way on I-75 in Bonita Springs overnight.

Laurie Collier now faces charges of culpable negligence, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and DUI.

According to her arrest report, just before 1:00 a.m., Collier and Lee county deputies attempted to stop her vehicle, which was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes near Bonita Beach Rd. Despite lights and sirens, Laurie Collier reportedly would not stop the vehicle. Her actions nearly caused several head-on collisions, the report said.

Deputies ultimately performed a PIT maneuver, causing Collier to swerve across three lanes and come to rest against a concrete wall.

Collier was physically removed from the vehicle after ignoring verbal commands to show her hands and exit the car. Deputies said Collier continued to resist by pulling her arms away as they tried to apprehend her.

Collier's speech was reportedly slurred and she was unsteady on her feet. Prescription bottles were allegedly found in her vehicle. Deputies said Collier refused to answer them as to whether she would submit to field sobriety tests or a breath test.

Collier was then arrested and transported to the substation.
