PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Punta Gorda woman on drug charges yesterday morning after they say she dumped the contents of her purse, which included the drugs, on the ground in front of them.

Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance complaint involving a woman and her adult daughter shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Nettle Road. When they arrived, they separated the two women to speak with them individually about what happened.

While one deputy was speaking with her mother, 27-year-old Jennie Lee Katerba turned her handbag upside down, dumping all of the contents out on the ground in clear view of other deputies. Allegedly among the contents was a clear plastic baggie that contained marijuana.

When deputies looked through the rest of the purse’s contents on the ground, they say they found three bags of synthetic marijuana in packaging labeled as “Generation Herbal Potpourri.” They also found rolling papers and other paraphernalia.

Katerba was charged with Possession of More than 20 grams of Synthetic Marijuana, Possession of Less than 20 grams of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation. She is being held without bond at the Charlotte County Jail.
