COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A Miami man faces multiple felony charges after Collier County Sheriff's detectives say he cashed fraudulent checks at banks around the county.

Detectives arrested 47-year-old Ricardo Rodriguez on multiple felony counts, including grand theft, uttering a forged instrument and scheming to defraud.

Rodriguez was arrested Thursday at the Collier County jail, where he had been since his arrest Wednesday on similar charges by Naples Police Department detectives.

CCSO detectives said the checks were stolen after being placed in the mail by various businesses located in Collier County. The payees and dollar amounts on the checks were altered. Rodriguez used several names and possibly stolen identities to cash the checks, most of which were for $798.36.

Nearly a dozen businesses in Collier County and the City of Naples were victims, detectives said.
