PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- A Port Charlotte man who had already been charged with multiple vehicle burglaries now faces even more charges after detectives filed additional paperwork against him on Monday.
Brenton Mitchell Schreer, 23, was initially arrested on Monday, March 31 on a variety of burglary, theft and violation of probation charges after a victim spotted a ladder that had been reported stolen at Schreer’s house.
During the investigation, district detectives obtained and served a search warrant at Schreer’s residence, recovering many items of property that were ultimately identified by burglary and theft victims as being their stolen items. Detective also learned that he had sold several tools and coins at a local pawn shop on the date of one group of vehicle burglaries.
As the investigation has continued, even more of the property located at Schreer’s home has been identified by other victims. As a result, on Monday, detectives filed additional Burglary, Grand Theft, Petit Theft and Violation of Probation charges against him on seven additional cases.
To date, detectives have been able to link Schreer to 16 separate cases. He remains in the Charlotte County Jail under a combined total $187,500 bond for the burglary and theft charges. However he is being held without bond on the Violation of Probation charges.
