LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- A 13-year-old Lehigh Acres Middle School student was arrested Friday for allegedly bringing a 12-inch knife to school.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the assistant principle received a call from a school bus driver, informing her that a student may be carrying a knife. That student was pulled out a class and met by a deputy in the office, who asked if he had any weapons on him.

The student reportedly said that he forgot he had a knife in his bag. The deputy then searched the student's bag and found a black and yellow drywall knife with a serrated blade.

After the student's parent arrived at the school and was interviewed, the student was arrested for possession of a weapon on school property and was transported to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.
