LABELLE, Fla. - One man is dead and two Hendry County deputies are on paid administrative leave after a shooting in LaBelle.

Capt. Susan Harrelle with the Hendry County Sheriff's Office said deputies were responding to a battery call around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday at home on E Road, near the Bob Paul Airport.

As deputies drove to the home, they saw a man in the roadway holding two guns. Capt. Harrelle said the man turned toward the deputies with the firearms, forcing them to fire at him.

It was reported earlier by the victim the suspect told her he was not going to jail.

The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

The suspect's name has not yet been released pending notification of family members. 

This case is now being investigated by The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Sebring Office.
