PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- A Punta Gorda man was arrested this afternoon after a Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy stopped him for speeding and reportedly found bags of crack cocaine in his possession.

At about 1:30 p.m., deputies clocked a black Isuzu truck travelling at 62 mph in a 50 mph zone on Duncan Road in the Cleveland. They also noted that the vehicle had what appeared to be darker tint than would be legal on its windows.

The driver, Emmanuel Pierre Louis, 29, was asked to step out of the vehicle while a narcotics dog walked around the truck. While Louis was standing to the side, deputies said they noticed he continued to reach his hand into his pants pocket. When the deputies patted Louis down for any weapons he might have had, they allegedly located an orange prescription bottle that contained 10 individual bags of a substance that tested positive for cocaine. Each bag weighed about half a gram, for a total weight of 5 grams.

Louis was charged with Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also give warning citations for the speeding violation and the tint violation.
