CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Shortly after 4:00 AM, Cape Coral Police Department Patrol Officers responded to 4021 SE. 12th Ave. in reference to a "shots heard" call.
While checking the area, responding officers located a male subject who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, in the parking lot at this address. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers quickly secured the area, established a perimeter, and began the investigation. Cape Coral Police Department Detectives, Forensics personnel, and additional Patrol Officers responded to assist with gathering evidence, canvassing the neighborhood, identifying and locating witnesses, and attempting to identify a suspect.
Cape Coral Police Department personnel will be in the area for several hours processing the crime scene and gathering evidence.
Currently, the Cape Coral Police Department does not have a suspect in this case. No information will be released regarding the identity of the victim, pending notification of next-of-kin.
"Preliminary indications are that this was not a random act. Our officers are working tirelessly to identify a suspect and make an arrest in this case. While we have not identified a suspect in this case as of yet, we do not believe that there is an immediate danger to the public at large at this time. "- Det.
