ROTONDA WEST, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested Tyler Wojcik and Nicholas Perkins, both 19, Monday for allegedly firing a shotgun at a parked van as the owner slept inside.
The victim told deputies he parked his van on an empty lot that he owns on Bonefish Ct., and went to sleep in the rear seat. Then, he heard what sounded like rocks hitting his vehicle. He got out of the van and saw a white Jeep fleeing the scene. The victim checked his van and realized it had been shot multiple times.
Both passenger side tires had been shot. There was also damage to the sliding door that was consistant with shotgun rounds. A projectile had traveled through the plastic door jamb, three feet from where the victim slept.
Deputies located a white Jeep on Gasparilla Rd. and stopped it. They spoke with the driver, Wojcik, and passenger, Perkins. Deputies located two shotguns, a rifle and a compound bow, as well as several shotgun rounds.
They found probable cause to arrest both men for shooting into a vehicle and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
