ENGLEWOOD, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested Sharon Swat, 24, on Saturday on child neglect charges stemming from the drowning death of her 11-month-old son in June.

Swat told investigators she left two young children alone in the bathtub as she heated a bottle for the victim on June 6th, but when she returned, she found the tub overflowing and the victim face down in the water.

The baby later died at Englewood Community Hospital.

Further testing and investigation revealed that even after 34 minutes of filling the tub where the child drowned, the tub never overflowed, according to CCSO. It was determined that Swat left her baby, who did not know how to swim, with a non-verbal, autistic 4-year-old for approximately 34 minutes.

The Sheriff's Office report stated Swat therefore committed an intentional act that resulted in the death of her son.
