NAPLES, Fla.- The Collier County Sheriff's Office arrested an elderly man yesterday, who is accused of molesting a special needs teenager.
Roy Bates, 77, of 710 Lalique Cir., faces charges of sexual battery on a victim over 12, and lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim between the ages of 12 and 16.
The victim told Child Protection Services investigators that she was sexually abused by Bates in Ohio while she was on Christmas break in 2012 and also in Collier County, while she was on summer break this year.
Bates is accused of exposing himself and masturbating in the victim's presence, as well as touching her inappropriately. According to the victim, Bates abused her every time he had the opportunity to be alone with her since 2012.
Deputies interviewed Bates at his home yesterday, where he reportedly confessed.
CCSO then contacted the victim's mother who said the teen has special needs and operates on the emotional level of an 8-to-9-year-old.
