PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- A Punta Gorda man followed a suspect he saw leaving his work trailer and detained him until deputies arrived early this morning. Ismael Antonio Torres, 24, now faces grand theft charges.

The victim told Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies that he was getting ready for work at about 3:15 a.m. when he saw someone driving away with his work trailer from his Cleveland area home. The victim got into his vehicle and followed the tail lights of his trailer until it eventually turned onto Argo Road, a dead-end street.

The victim watched as a suspect got out of the vehicle pulling his trailer and began to unhitch it along Argo Road. When he yelled at the suspect, the man tried to drive away by continuing down Argo, only to have to turn around to come back. The suspect stopped his vehicle when confronted by the victim.

Deputies arrived in the area shortly thereafter and took Torres into custody. Torres is being held on a $2,500 bond at the Charlotte County Jail.
